Unscripted Owls

Since it's Saturday, I hurried over to unscripted to see what the girls had cookin' this week #16. Not wanting to bother my neighbor/friend/upline (who has practically all the nestabilities) first thing in the morning, I went with a different shape for the main image.
Have you ever seen an owl in person? Not in a zoo but outside? These little owls are so cute! They must be designed after little barn owls or those tiny little burrowing owls. Because great horned owls like we see around here are creepy. Their call is ominous, their outline is sobering, and to have one fly over can make you understand why so many stories have been written about them!

  • To put this card together, I reached for the Animal Stories stamp set because I like this little owl! I inked it in soft suede and stamped on the pattern paper and whisper white.
  • All the pattern paper is from Stampin' Up!'s new Tall Tales designer series paper pack.
  • Soft suede is the color I chose to add a little emphasis behind all the pattern paper. It looks rather green in the pictures, but it is indeed a brown color.
  • A little paper piercing adds some edge detail. I seriously considered sewing around the edge of the card, but we have company coming and I didn't want to take the time to get my machine out and mess around!

Well, that's my card! I hope you have some time to create today. I would love to hear what you think about owls, so leave a comment if you have a minute!

Thanks for stopping by.

Tasha

Hi Tasha, oh I have a few stories about owls which is why I have never purchased an owl stamp :). Although I do think barn owls are very beautiful it's the bigger ones I agree that are the problem. I used to work night shifts and coming home in the early hours of the morning at a particular corner of a country road I used to get dive bombed nearly every night by a particular large owl, whether it did this to every car that passed or just mine I don't know but it got to the point where I was looking for another route. One night I came up to the corner and as I turned it dive bombed too low that time. Horrible, horrible experience and quite a bit of damage to my car too. You wish you hadn't asked the question now I should think :) Thanks for the info recently on the stripey ribbon, they do have some in the new UK catologue but as you say the colours are different and it's not the wide one but I think I'll get some, it's so luxurious. Your card is wonderful even with owls :) and I love the shape. Have a great weekend. Chris

Wow, Chris, that story definitely supports my creepy owl theory! Guess you'll be glad when the papercraft industry quits with all the owl stuff!

And, thanks, Sarah for the heads up on my link! Bet a few people were surprised when it took them right back to the same place. :)

What a cute card! Those owls are adorable, and the colors you chose go really well with them. I can honestly say that in all of my 33 years I have never seen an owl, oustide of the zoo. I think I'd proably freak out if I did. LOL Thanks for joining us again for this weeks Unscripted sketch challenge Tasha!

An adorable card again Tasha! Love the two offset squares. Hmmm, I think I'll stick with these paper owls after Chris' story and come to think of it, I've only ever seen owls when it's a bird show or some animal guy bringing nature into school. I'll pass! Thanks for being Unscripted, as always.

Tasha this card is so terrific...sadly the only owl I have crossed paths with was dead on the side of the road! Thanks for being such a great supporter of US. BR-T

Am always looking for an owl idea for a friend who loves 'em. And youve done the owl justice in your results. Lots of fun, looks like.
