Halloween mojo

I have so much mojo I can hardly sit in my chair! This is my third post today so be sure to check the one before because it's the start of my September blog candy!

***
Today's card idea uses the wonderful Wide Oval Punch from Stampin' Up! I love the versatility of the punch. It is not too large, but big enough for images and to make this fun (and easy) pumpkin. The stem is punched with the Modern Label Punch

  • The layout is from today's mojomonday 104 sketch. It's a great one for round objects.Halloween card with embossed background and paper punch pumpkin

This is a 5-1/2"x4-1/4" card with the fold along the top.

  • the background was created by randomly inking the diamond Texturz plate before running it in the Big Shot
  • each piece of the pumpkin is sponged around the edge before assembling
  • ink: basic black, old olive, pumpkin pie
  • stamp sets: Sweet Centers (holiday mini catalog), Teeny Tiny Wishes
  • cardstock: kraft, whisper white, pumpin pie, old olive
  • accessories: 5/8" old olive ribbon (a must have), 1/2" striped grosgrain in pumpkin pie

That's it for me today! Be sure to check out that Halloween theme blog candy.

Wild Mojo

This weekend I spent time caring for 2 friends' animals while they got away for the holiday. After getting our own animals down for the night I counted up that I had just finished tending 13 chickens, many fish, 5 cats, 2 bunnies, and 2 dogs. So with animals on the brain, I reached for my Animal Stories stamp set this morning once I checked out mojomonday sketch 103.
I did flip the sketch sideways, but other than that it is straight forward.

  • Tall Tales designer series paper helped this card go together quickly

  • colors are soft suede, old olive, so saffron, and whisper white

  • gold brads anchor the hemp twine on each side

  • the spiral punch lends some pizzaz to the paper strip (that punch is a bargain at only $10.95)

It's hard to see, but I did use the Shimmer Paint (yes, I am still loving it) on the giraffe.

Sponging the stamp with the shimmer paint, then inking it in soft suede, gives a shimmery --almost embossed-- look!

Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day!

The Card That Took All Day!

Bet you're thinking this is going to be the most intricate, technique-heavy, layered-up card I have ever shared. But, nope, it's pretty much my normal style.

I started by checking mojo monday at 8am and am just now finishing up at 3pm. And truth be told, the card took about 15-20 minutes if you add up all the times I actually went down there to work on it--one minute at a time!!

Since I still had the Animal Stories stamp set out from Saturday's card, I plucked the whale out and started from there.
  • colors: ruby red, bashful blue, whisper white, ballet blue

  • pattern paper is Stampin' Up!s designer series patterns in bashful blue

  • to emulate waves, I used the scallop edge punch along the bottom of the upper piece of pattern paper and layered a strip of bashful blue behind

  • the banner pulled by the whale is made with the new Modern Label punch and then I trimmed off one end with the Tag Corner punch

  • hemp twine is the "rope"

  • to insert the large grommets, I punched a hole with the 1/2" circle punch and then used the bone folder to lay down the tabs

I hope this gives you an idea of something you would like to make! Thanks so much for stopping by.

The Countdown Begins

Hi Stampers! Hope you're ready to get your groove on. The Mojo Monday team has another sketch today--and a contest. I have been dying to use this flower stamp since I saw it in the mini catalog. But life is about getting sidetracked so I am just now getting around to it.
Here is the sketch. You can head over to http://www.mojomonday.blogspot.com/ and enter as well!
Stampin' Up! supplies I used:
stamps: Wagon Full of Fun, Darling Dots
cardstock: green galore, whisper white, apricto appeal, tempting turquoise, rainbow sherbet designer series paper
ink: staz on black; apricot appeal, barely banana, creamy caramel, pretty in pink, gable green markers
accessories: none!
tools: paper crimper

I am off to help in the flower shop for this Mother's Day week. So my countdown includes:

  1. 5 days to work at the flower shop
  2. 5 days till my open house
  3. 6 days till the first sneak peek of June's Cards of the Month
  4. 14 days till school is out

Wishing you a wonderfully crazy week as well! Tasha
