Fond Farewells

Hi Stampers! These next couple weeks I will focus on stamping ideas using some of my favorite sets that are retiring. Of course, I have to start with Heartfelt Thanks. This workhorse of a set has been the one I could always turn to when I wasn't feeling inspired. I feel this set should go in the stamp set Hall of Fame for it's versatility and usefulness!
.
I used today's sketch challenge 231 over at splitcoaststampers for my layout.
Tips to create this card:
  • stamp a 3x5 inch whisper white piece with the flower image repeatedly using ballet blue, bashful blue, and almost amethyst; use certainly celery to stamp some flower centers--then cut into 3/4"x5" strips
  • for the single flower image ink stamp with almost amethyst, then tip stamp and place an edge onto ballet blue pad, roll stamp around so that the blue gets just on the outside
  • StazOn jet black gives a crystal clear stamp so that is my choice for the black
  • sponging almost amethyst along the scallop accents the edge

If you don't already own Heartfelt Thanks (114980, $32.95) and can possibly afford to buy it before it's gone, I highly recommend purchasing this set--you won't be disappointed. If you don't have a demonstrator, you can email me to place the order OR place your order online. Or have a workshop and earn this set for free!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by! Tasha

Don't forget the Last Chance Accessories are limited so I am updating the list each day.

Here's a Request and Tip of the Day

Hi Stampers! I've missed posting the past few days. I was wondering how I would handle my Stampin' Up! business and blogging once spring arrived. So far, outdoors is winning!! Actually, that not true, I helped host a big scrapbook workshop last night and so the past few days have also been spent getting ready for that along with planting seeds, etc.
.
Last night one of my friends requested that I post this card so she can make it at home. This was part of my fall workshops. So here you go Dana!!
Here are the supplies I used, if you want to make it at home:

card stock: baja breeze (retired, substitute another blue such as bordering), old olive, whisper white

stamps: heartfelt thanks, close as a memory

ink: old olive, rose red, versa mark

accessories: hemp twine

I hope that you are enjoying these first days of spring as well. We plan on cooking over the fire pit tonight complete with s'mores. Which brings me to the:

Tip of the Day: Since the process of s'mores can be messy, you can make it easier by using chocolate-coated cookies. We use the fudge stripes kind. Just toast the marshmallow and squish between two cookies. They come in a plastic tray so it's easy for 3 kids to be grabbing at once. ;) No having to open chocolate bar wrappers and graham cracker packs with sticky fingers!!

.

As always, if you need any supplies to make the card above feel free to email me at tasha_hickert-consulting@yahoo.com or you can order directly by clicking the catalog in the upper right corner.

Thanks for stopping by! Tasha

Saturday Sketch

Happy Friday night to you! It's been a good day. I finished two cards using last Saturday's sketch BEFORE the next Saturday. If you're not sure what I'm talking about I found it on Lauren M's blog at SplitCoastStampers.

The picture makes the beautiful, sparkly, magenta, fluffy, ribbon look sort of hairy and scary! But it's pretty in person. The print paper is "unidentified sale item" but the card stock, ink, and stamps are from Stampin' Up.

Virtually same card but for a man. On both I used SU Heartfelt Thanks flower with versa-mark and the outline on this one is in ballet blue.
.
Woo-hoo I got comment #2! Thanks, Heidi, for visiting and for the picture upload help. Now I won't pull all my hair out trying to post. ;)
.
Thanks for stopping by! Till next time, Tasha

Most Versatile Set

I sat down today with one of the few sets I have that hasn't retired and made a few simple cards. I remember now why I like Heartfelt Thanks so much--it is so versatile! When it first came out I saw it only with pale colors and wasn't impressed but I bought it anyway. And I have been glad ever since. So I hope these inspire those of you who have it to get out your set and use it again. Enjoy!

The black flower outline is part of the 2-step stampin' flower in the kit. The black background has the same flower with versa-mark (trust me--it's there).

I created the background by using the base flower from the 2-step stampin'. I stamped it 3 times after inking to get the watercolor effect. Colors on this are cameo coral, pretty in pink, and apricot appeal.

This palette is gable green, certainly celery, bashful blue and ballet blue.

I just love the black/white gingham ribbon so I find myself using red/white/black to accomodate it! On this card I used real red. The background is done by inking in black and stamping it off on scrap paper till the stamp is nearly clean, then using versa-mark so you get a VERY light black.

This is on a Scallop Notes card so it is quite small. When I get better at taking pictures the colors will be more true, but it gets the point across.

Okay, this is NOT HFT, but I got side-tracked when I went to get a piece of cardstock and ended up making this one too. I wouldn't post it but the set is current so what the heck. I did some gold embossing on some of the stars, and clear embossing on the MVP to give the this more dimension.

So that's it! I have learned to add photos and this only took me 8 hours!!! Well, you have to take the times I stopped to fix a bike, pick tomatoes and okra, hold a funeral for the chicken that I wrestled away from the dog, counsel my youngest 2 and 3 neighbor kids about death and heaven, cook dinner, pack the husband's dinner for work, start the laundry...you get the idea. In fact, it's amazing I finished in one day.

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend as well. School started last week so I have high hopes of making some more things this week along with visiting lots of other blogs.

Till next time, Tasha
