Travel Gift Box

Can you ever have too much pink? Check out this ensemble--lol! This gift all started with that luggage tag I found at a little boutique. My friend is doing some extra travelling this year due to her mother's health and I thought a cute tag might give her a reason to smile during the trips.
After finding the tag, I knew I would have to make a "suitcase" to put it on. While shopping at a local craft store, I found this polka-dot box and knew it was the perfect gift wrap. This morning I finally buckled down to make the suitcase.

The black straps actually hold it closed with velcro dots. The inside looks like this.

To keep the earrings in their place I just used a piece of basic black cardstock and the crop-o-dile to make my holes.

And, yes, in case you were wondering I did have pink tissue paper to set inside to keep the jewelry from sliding around during shipping!
I got the basic idea from a template I purchased from Becky Roberts. You can see the picture of hers on her blog in the right side bar, called traveling trio.
Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Love You Much--In November?

No, I haven't lost my mind (at least not entirely). We are making Valentine cards today because we are sending them to the wonderful organization From Our Hearts. This network of volunteers sends cards to overseas for the military personnel to use to stay in touch with loved ones. And Valentine's Day is their next holiday shipment which goes out around Christmas.

Both cards use the stamp set Love You Much.

Top card colors are very vanilla, real red, regal rose, and old olive.

Bottom card colors are whisper white, pretty in pink, and melon mambo.

Punches used: flower trio, scallop edge, scallop circle, 1-1/4" circle, and eyelet border

.

Hope you enjoyed this break from orange, black, and rust!

Fun With The Round Tab Punch

Thanks to my neighbor who came up with this idea, I made these last fall and again this year. A quick, fun project for any age crafter!
  • the pumpkin is made with 10 only orange round tab punches--pumpkin pie, and dusty durango would work as well
  • the apple uses 7 real red (or ruby red) and 3 white round tab punches

Cards of the Month Club will ship out today since the 25th is Sunday. I have a few kits left so if you would like to join us this month, you can sign up here.

Enjoy your Friday!

My Digital Studio Hybrid Invitation

My Digital Studio Halloween cardsBecause life isn't busy enough, I decided to let my younger two kids throw a Halloween party! The decorations and games look so fun in the magazines we get--lol.
.
So I revved up My Digital Studio and in no time I had these invitations designed and printed. Since I wanted the base to be black, I printed 4 fronts per page on whisper white cardstock and 4 insides per page, cut them apart, then glued onto the basic black card.
.
Simple and quick--just my style!

My Digital Studio Halloween card front

Hopefully the rest of the preparations will go as smoothly!

If you would like to learn more about My Digital Studio you can head to my Stampin' Up! store to watch a short video.

Tea Party Designer Series Paper Makes a Cute Backpack

3-d mini-backpack with Tea Party designer series paperMy 4th-grader's teacher has a birthday today. Since a gift card is a great choice for the class to give her, but not very exciting, I decided to package it in a fun way. I have seen mini-backpacks before, but this is my first shot. Have to admit, I am pleased with the result.

  • tip: using Stampin' Up! designer series paper (this is Tea Party) helps create a coordinated project easily
    side view of 3-d mini-backpack
  • almost amethyst cardstock is perfect with this paper
  • old olive ribbon in 5/8" grosgrain makes up the straps while 1/4" so saffron creates the loop on top

I'll be headed to the school shortly to deliver this and sing Happy Birthday.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Berry Christmas Gift Tags

This is one of the projects that we made at the Stampin' Up! regional seminar last Saturday. All attendees received the stamp set Berry Christmas (in the mini-catalog #116509)because a stamping seminar wouldn't be complete without some actual rubber stamping!Berry Christmas Gift Tags

It's so fun to gather with demonstrators from across the area and share ideas! One of the perks of this job is meeting other women and making life-long friends. If you would like to be a part of my group, I invite you to email me.

Embossed Simple Beauty

This card was made by my Stampin' Up! mentor who got me started stamping 10 years ago! She has a knack for quick and simple cards that rock.Embossed Christmas Card
  • The embossed pattern is easily created with Stampin' Up!s exclusive embossing folder Elegant Bouquet (115964) and the Big Shot
  • This greeting is from the stamp set All Holidays (114913) but could easily be changed--even to a birthday sentiment
  • Using 2 brads for an accent is a good choice when making a large quantity of cards without breaking the bank!
The 12 Weeks of Christmas continues with idea #3 today. If you are not receiving these, sign up for my newsletter/mailing list on the left side. Each week I send a Christmas sample along with the list of supplies needed to make it. There will be cards, gifts, and packaging ideas to help you through the holiday season.

My Digital Studio Mojo...and more

The sketch today at Mojo Monday #108 is one of those keepers. For quick cards and scrapbooking, this is a great layout! So I have one of each to share.Lovely As a Tree stamped card

Since the Lovely As A Tree stamp set is still out from designing Nov. Cards of the Month, I used it for this sketch as well.

  • the image background is whisper white sponged with bashful blue all over and ballet blue along the bottom and sides
  • StazOn timber brown brings the trees out nicely on top of the sponging
  • Shimmer Paint sponged over the top make the whole page glisten--Tip: shimmer paint will cause StazOn ink to bleed so go lightly and quickly or use water-based ink
  • card base and pattern paper are bashful blue

Shimmer Paint Detail

This layout is also perfect for a team photo. Using Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio, I created this page in a few minutes. You can see more about the program by heading over to my Stampin' Up! website.Scrapbook layout with My Digital Studio

Where Did the Weekend Go?

Okay, here is the project I was so excited about Friday! In just a few minutes, I made this clock! Talk about cheerful...he's been smiling at us all weekend.

Jack-o-lantern clock with decor elements spooky expressions

I started with an inexpensive clock from Dollar General.

  • Remove the clock from the box, flip over and remove all the screws around the outside which should remove the frame and glass.

  • The clock hands come off fairly easily, just be sure to lift them one at a time

  • Use the frame as a template, hold pencil straight up and draw a circle

  • my clock was larger than 8-1/2" so I layed 2 pieces of cardstock side-by-side so there is a large piece and an extra sliver

  • center large piece over clock face and press to get the center mark

  • cut or punch a hole in the center

  • apply face to the front using hole as a guide for the nose

  • apply Tombow mono adhesive to the back of the orange pieces and let dry

  • attach orange pieces to clock front

  • pop clock hands back on

  • lay glass and frame on top, flip, and put screws back in

Voila!

World Card Making Day

It's a day to celebrate something I love! And guess how I am celebrating...
a) with a special workshop

b) an open house

c) a make-and-take at a local retirement home

d) none of the above

Answer: d) none of the above

Today is also Buhler Frolic which is the local celebration of a small town nearby. And it just so happens our schools are in their district so we are going to the parade and celebration today. Then we are going to a "famous" working ranch for dinner and a show.

That's how we like to do it at my house--cram everything into one day. lol ! Actually, our Christmas gift to my parents last year was that we would take them to this dinner but it has taken us until now to coordinate our schedules so we could go.

But you can still celebrate World Card Making Day by heading over to Unscripted Sketches for a blog hop and some blog candy!

I do have a fun project to share with you tomorrow! It's been in my head for about a month and I finally made it yesterday--I was so excited!!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!
